Dividing Mindanao

this editorial cartoon is about the dividing of Mindanao between President Arroyo and the MILF.
Can't you believe that she let some parts of Mindanao fall into the clutches of the MILF? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Hello Paolo, the Muslims should have a land of their own, with their own laws because they are Muslims, different from Christians in Luzon. They can have their own "autonomous" land without being separated from the Philippines. They can still be part of the Philippines but "autonomous" in government. Being "autonomous" means "not controlled by others or by outside forces; existing and functioning independently" but still they are part of the Philippines and follow Philippine laws. Is it bad or good? Well, GMA's method is bad because she has other plans. Like trying to manipulate this event for her own personal gains. You see, GMA might want to pursue an agreement that will pave they way for extending her term as president. But gicing autonomy to Muslim is never a bad thing. It's good that they should have an autonomous region of their own. BTW, you have a nice editorial cartoon here. Comment: It should not be "dividing of Mindanao between President Arroyo and the MILF," it should be "President Arroyo's division of Mindanao for Muslims..."
